Paddy the Englishman, Paddy the Scotsman and Paddy the Irishman all arrived together at the Pearly gates at Christmas time.
St. Peter greeted them and said, access can only be granted by showing some sort of Christmas Spirit, "you must bring something that represents Christmas" he insisted.
Paddy the Englishman produces a sprig of holly and St. Peter was very happy invite him in.
Paddy the Scotsman produces a cigarette lighter; St. Peter hesitated but Paddy ignites the lighter explaining it represents a Christmas candle. St Peter with some reservation invites him in.
Paddy the Irishman, proudly strolls up to St. Peter and produces a pair of knickers, 'And how exactly does this represent Christmas' asked St. Peter somewhat irritated , "'They're 'Carol’s" says Paddy the Irishman.
