This works for me and has worked for me for 20 years, on numerous GS's

I use an Oxford Lock Bag, it has 4 straps and sits on the pillion seat (don't normally take pillions, but if I do it has gone in a black system pannier)

Keeps the weight central and easy to get on and off the bike

The bag is waterproof and has a hard plastic lining, that protects the lock and keeps it from moving about

Big enough for a 1.5m chain and rotating padlock (D-Cide, I think - bought it years ago - all Sold Secure)

Benefit of a rotating pin type padlock is that is a thief clouts it, it just spins

I use when touring abroad or UK and always lock my bike overnight, if there is no garage

Quick release webbing straps allow you to pop it in a pannier when the lock is on the bike

Enough room for a helmet cable lock too

This is how it attaches, with the 4 clips and straps

Once tight it never slips, due to the webbing straps

Been using it for 20 years now

Too many thieves about:rob

Out and about the bike in Germany's Black Forest, where the lock bag is really unobtrusive

Surely a coincidence JB that you still have your bike?

I see what you did there:D

Unlike these London new GS types

Lock or garage your bike, hopefully the tealeaves will move onto an easier target, with just the steering lock on:rolleyes:

My sentiments exactly JB...it's not hard is it.....

I guess there is no room in the those aluminium topboxes to put security devices.....and the weight of all those steel rings...they do so throw the handling of the bike off don't you find...and oh dont get me started on the loss of acceleration is frankly crippling....

Awesome steeds.......................awesome steeds, that's the buzzword

Biking has moved on, it's all about style and form nowadays............it it doesn't look good or right, it's not going on the bike (albeit some people's tastes are questionable on that front:D)

Years ago, we put bike covers on when parked overnight, abroad............now nobody bothers

Still ............£17000 for a new GSA is loose change for many on here

OR its less than a mere 10% of the take home pay of the UK average salary...much more affordable for the less affluent and all who are fashion conscious.

Time to get down from that soapbox before we get kicked off.:beerjug:

Probably discontinued

Made in England though

Aha the golden age ......back in the day

I've been using one of these from Amazon for a while on the rear rack, about 18 months now with an Almax chain and lock, no major wear on the bag.
