CAT Code question

Last time I took my bike to the shop for tyres they gave me a cat code plug as a recall item. It appears to be a jumper from pin 30 to 87. Is there any point in using it? The bike is a Y2K 1150 and it runs just lovely already. Y piece, standard zorst & no code plug fitted. The shop said they thought it might lean the mixture up but were not sure. Can anyone enlighten me? I have searched the site but cannot see any info regarding 30-87.

Put it on a dyno as it is now, and after with the new code plug, do a mixture test with each, there's your answer!
