Cat "D"
I wandered into Traynors around 1995/6 and there was an R1100RT with tuperware damage. I asked the salesman "How much"?
He quoted me £2300 pounds.
I said he was too dear. He said no, it was cat D & well worth that, if I bought the parts from
Motorworks.
Well I went home, & did my homework.
Went on to Autotrader, & there was a glittering example, with full luggage for £4000.
It would have cost me the same to repair the one in Traynors, without any luggage. ( All destroyed in accident)
None of he above takes into account the labour involved in the repair, which would have been 30 hours of my own time, or the residual value of the Cat D bike when I would go to sell it.
Thanks, but no thanks.
I went to England, bought the bike in Autotrader.
Photocopied Receipt, along with all the quotations from
Motorworks + Traynor's own quotation, & sent to Salesman, telling him he was, as I stated at the time, £1000 out.
Never had the courtesy of a reply----
Bike was still there 3 months later.
