Wheel - no.

Lambda probe - with a spanner - but first trace the wire up the offside of the engine and unclip it to give more free play before starting to unscrew the probe. When you refit the probe twist the wire several times in the "wrong" direction so that it untwists as you screw it into the y-piece.

Or trace the wire as above undo the connector then pull the wire and blug down through the frame. Leave the probe in and take off the cat, then you can get to the probe better to undo it.

Make sure it is the right size spanner as the probe will be screwed in TIGHT and can be a bugger to loosen first time.

*edit*

The cat may refuse to budge too, its worth having a peice of wood and a hammer ready for some freindly persuasion.:D

Dont for get to have a jack or block of wood to support the cat as you undo it. Do not try to hold it up by hand, they are heavy, and having your hand squashed on the garage floor by one as it comes away is no fun.

I removed the sensor first, put a mark on it and count how many times you turn it before it comes out, then when you fit the y peice turn it the same amount of turns the opposite way, and then hey presto no kinked wires.

I removed the back box completely so it gave me more room to work.

Do not tighten all the bolts up first, loose fix it all back first then start at the front and work back, this way you will insure you have good sealed joints.

To remove cat and fit a y peice took me about 45 mins.

That included several trips back into my garage to get the correct size sockets and spanners.

Couple of questions about fitting a "Y" piece.

How much weight do you save taking the cat off?

Do you need to do any retuning after fitting the "Y" piece or odes the management system compensate?
