For Sale Caterham Supersport 2012

My back aches just looking at it!
I was lucky enough to have a passenger ride in a racing 7 on slicks at Bruntingthorpe, being driven by a very fast Le Mans qualified racer - exhilarating.
I have also driven one with a full racing roll cage (that was almost impossible to climb in and out of) at Goodwood. Whenever I go there, the 7s are usually the fastest cars there.

I have had mine up for sale on Pistonheads for a while at £28000 for an 03 plate 310S with less than one thousand miles and not even a sniff.
Guess Caterhams will start shifting in the Spring.

Whoever thought the K series engine was a good idea :blast , its a head gasket waiting to let go...

The Honda D16A8 engine would be my choice, virtually the same spec & size, but bulletproof !

cracking colour though

K series in a Caterham was never a problem due to much improved cooling, used to do a lot of Caterham day's and never saw an overheated 7.
In a rover car well that's another matter for sure

Had a R400, never had one issue with the head gasket, the K series engine was a good engine, nice and light. Mine was breathed on by Mr Dave Andrews, who knew his K series engines. I used to track and race mine for around 9 years. What did for it was hitting the wall at Castle Combe whilst on slicks when the track was wet, ok until I over cooked it and put a wheel on the grass. Car was written off.

Had both in Rovers, the Honda twin cam in the 216 GTi,- bulletproof, the K series in the 416, head gasket went twice lol

Dave Andrews in Milton Keynes was the K series Guru. Ported a K series head for me when I had my Lotus Elise.
In 12,000 miles of hammering the car, I never had a head gasket go. When I refitted the head, Dave gave me an " Uprated Head Gasket" and told me to use new head/engine bolts. Also, I suppose the car was very light so did not put the same strain on the engine that heavier cars did which used that engine ( Freelander comes to mind, which suffered a lot of HGF).

Going back to this thread,
Good luck with selling in the spring.
Had a lot of fun in a few Westfields in the 90's and early 2000's. Always thought that the Rover V8 was a bit too heavy in these cars, but gave very good performance.
Ford engine in the Westfield (Zetec/Duratec) worked well.
Always wanted a Caterham, but just out of my price range for a fun toy.

Drove one on a corporate day many years back, oh what fun until I spun it on a corner! Thankfully onto grass. My brother-in-law put one together from a kit the original Lotus 7.

This is my 420r above Andermatt, Switzerland. Making the most of the passes. If you like a pure drivers car there is nothing that you can drive to a track then drive home, nothing!View attachment 442405
Drive mine over the same spot to the St Moritz meet many years ago (Good old cross flow before my 1.8 Supersport) Cracking trip, loaded up with all my camping gear and stuff from and the ex Mrs (I do miss.... the car)
I'd love to have room for another Seven..... :(

I've always liked Caterhams, but I felt the elbow room was a bit lacking when I sat in one at a kitcar show (At the time I had the notoriously elbow room deficient series Landy) but found the flowing lines of the Ginetta gave a bit more elbow room, and although it had a space under the rear deck, there was no way to access it other than sliding it between the seats and the various safety mounts for the harnesses and roll bar, but god forbid it slid too far as it would drop into the space behind the fuel tank.. which was otherwise sealed to the base of the body tub so you'd never see it again!

It was a stripped out race car though, which had more power and less weight than the actual race cars as they had full cages and restrictors on the throttle bodies.

I do miss my little racer.. but only on a few days in the height of summer, on a decent road, without any speed humps or potholes... or speed cameras :D
