Hi folks
As per the title, I need insulation removed from inside the walls on a property
Does anyone have experience of this work being done ?
Know of a reputable firm that does this work ?
Thanks

Worst mistake many people have made... putting it in in the first place. Now there's a whole new industry ........taking it out.

Oh Fek. That sounds like a hassle. What's happened ?
The family house had foam style cavity done years ago before we bought it.
About 10 years ago damp/mould appeared .I had a preservation chap look at it ,he said cavity insulation has failed ,took some bricks out of the inside wall and the foam was wet saturated and is bridging the 2walls . This is not good long term as the persistent damp will degrade the brick wall ties as well as feeding moisture across into the inside wall ,It has to be removed :rob:D

The phenolic foam insulation does need to be used carefully in a cavity.

At least the blown in insulation still allows the moisture to drain to the bottom of the cavity and naturally escape.

Could be interstitial condensation or water ingress into the cavity from elsewhere and as the cavity is filled it has no where else to go.

Is a sort of very lightweight white foam (really light weight)
I suspect what is causing the problem is that the cavity from what I remember ,runs all the way down to the concrete founds which means that the foam is down below the line of the damp proof course .
If the foam has the characteristic as I suspect it seems to have ,it is picking up water and wicking it up and onto the inside wall

I don't think there is the same issues with the modern approved materials, this stuff that's giving us problems is 1960 /70 materials :thumb2

I can't do links with the proxy machine I'm on just now, but pop 'Jeff Howells cavity wall insulation' into Google and you'll get lots of advice.
