OK...may treat myself to a later F1 or F2 ( rr ? ) but want to stay under £3,500. Anyone owned one of these...are they better than pre F1 bikes? Google has baffled me...most say the F1 is at low rpm ( fuel inj at fault ).

Any advice re these bikes would be appreciated or any 'proper' owners clubs etc details:thumb2

Not sure if its any help,I had an 06 f model. Fuel injection was very smooth at all revs, put a scorpion can on it ,and it still ran smooth no surging at low revs and pulled well. Have'nt ridden a carb model too compare im afraid.

I had a RY (2001) carbed model, a 2003 RR which was the first of the rr's and then another 06 CBR (non rr), I really rated them all as hugely capable and great fun to ride although you might not want to tour on an rr (but people do).

I traded the last for the 1200 and have not looked back but I would defo have one as a second bike.

I had an '02 CBR600F, so fuel injected, before I got into BMW's. fueling was pretty much perfect, I never really thought about it which to me means it's gotta be alright!

Actually I still miss mine sometimes, you could do anything on it, touring, bimbling, track riding etc. Definitely the nicest 600 for riding on the road IMHO. I gave it up mainly because I have back problems and was in agony after a couple of hours riding, not saying they're uncomfy because they're not.

Things to look out for... Well not much I don't think, besides the usual stuff, it's a honda innit :D Mine had no service history when I got it (which the dealer failed to mention) but never missed a beat, it looked like it had been cared for though. Only thing I remember annoying me was when I dropped it off the stand and needed a new indicator, which was £70  Parts aren't the cheapest, but then you could say the same for BMW.

Thanks guys...I've acquired three f***ed lower discs and my CB1300s is getting a tad heavy...I'm leaning towards a CBR600 as it stretches ( have a vfr400 and that was brill ) the old joints :)

ALL appreciated :thumb2

I had a 2001 on a '51' Red and black F Sport. Really nice bike, My riding buddy had an earlier 2000 FY which wasn't a patch on mine, He'd get off mine saying it felt like a razor in comparison to his.
they are a load of bike for the money lets face it much nicer looking than the earlier bikes.

That said you could probably pick up a decent condition 53 plate RR for your budget. That bike was quite simply an ENORMOUS leap forward from the F1 and what I'd choose out of the two.
