CBR600F4i - missing at about 3,000 rpm

Friend has a lovely ( I sold him it two years ago Honda CBR600F4i which runs as sweet as a nut
when spanked hard etc. But, at 2,500 to 3,000 rpm bike stumbles.
I've told him to put some injector cleaner in and run it at that rpm but wondering if anyone has
any idea what it could be?
Bike hasn't been used a lot but has new petrol in and starts on the button and behaves perfectly
other than the misfire at about 3,000
Bike is the alloy framed 2004 model with only 3,500 miles on her.

Is this misfire only apparent when under load, or can it be replicated when stationary with 3k revs? Does a plug chop tell anything. Are the coils OK, or is there damp ingress?
