Has anyone obtained the above recently? I am off to Gran Canaria with Canary Motorcycle Tours soon and want to hedge my bets, as I got stung in Romania.

I have conducted a fair bit of online research and phoned various insurers, including Swintons etc. but cannot find one that will cover a hired motorcycle.

Thank you in anticipation of your replies.

try searching for lifestyle excess cover. It covers any excess on any policy claimed on.

For anyone interested, I was unable to find CDW/Excess insurance from anyone, despite a lot of research and phone calls.
i just renewed mine. They paid out the excess recently for my holiday travel claim. Bonus

I understood that reputable travel insurance policies included this, certainly ours does, it also includes my skiing and riding motorcycles > 125 cc in Europe.

never seen that as a standard item in travel insurance

I am sure you can add CDW for *cars* as an extra, but bikes? Please can you provide a link to the cover you have showing this cover.

It’s a business travel policy, covers all employees (12) and immediate families. When I’m at work I will get it out.

Does the business travel policy, only operate when you are travelling on ‘business’? ie. is it that it doesn’t function when you travel for say, a private holiday, unrelated to work?

Thanks for your replies. I think there might be a slight misunderstanding. I am not referring to travel insurance that covers riding a motorbike: I'm referring to 'off the shelf' CDW/Excess insurance for hire vehicles, rather than sign up for the hirers version. I have used this many times for hire car companies in Spain, which are notorious for monkey business. There's plenty out there for cars but I cannot find any for motorcycles.

No it definitely includes non work travel. We have had business travel for many years, I’d say the current insurer has been the most useful, although (touch wood) have never had to use it.

It’s Group Personal accident and business travel policy with AVIVA. We use a broker in Tamworth for all our work policies

Maximum duration of travel does not exceed 60 days in any one trip

Leisure trips must not exceed 40% of the total number of trips

Thank you for confirming. It is always worth checking just how much ‘private’ cover a ‘business’ policy provides. Better to find out before the event, rather than after!
