Celebrating Tom Crean, a true hero

I think he was on 3 Antarctic expeditions

Discovery
Terra Nova
Endurance

and may be the only one who was on all 3 - heard that somewhere.

It is not right that he is so poorly commemorated and when I win the Lotto....

Bin

Too true, you would think that some funding could be got from somewhere (Irish Lotto?) to construct a fitting memorial for this legend of a man, even some funding from UK as well as he served in the RN

Why were you searching? :nenau
I met some fella through one of them interweb forum thingies & he was asking about the Kilkea connection cos, although he's retired from the public service and has heaps of spare time, he's great at this delegating malarky :D

Is there not something in Prosperous? Or Athy?
Nothing in Athy other than the museum (from what I've seen) & that's only open Mon to Fri :blast
Is there a Robertstown connection ? I could certainly have a wee look around there.

Buried here in South Georgia
Aye, but probably a tad far for a Photo point. Ya know what those cruiser riders are like :augie

Shackeltons

Hi all,
was at the South Pole last week, and the Grave, and Annascaul lake, how far does that lane go ?Gerry? I chickened out because I was 2up.
Shackelton family's were in Lucan and Ballitore, Earnests family connections are buried in the Quaker graveyard near Ballitore.
tried to add pics but they were too big, is there a link to how to do it?

Also, anyone going on the riders rally? start is 2 miles from me if anyone needs assistance. Druids there this weekend.
