Ive just bought a "Centec AP-1" fuse panel from NN, as I can see that the accessory wiring situation is already starting to turn into a "right kerrfuffle" (Stebel, Autocom, & additional DIN socket for Widder vest/Optimate). :mmmm

Has anyone fitted one yet? Any suggestions on siting it? (1150ADV) Ive used the space where the tool kit lives to site the Autocom , so its all looking a bit tight, but if anyones got some useful suggestions :idea Id be most grateful . Im looking to add some driving lamps & a GPS soon. :D

Wilderness Rob I can't offer any gen as I've only just bought the AP-1 myself. However would you mind awfully if I add the 1200GS to your thread? :nenau I apologise in advance for being cheeky. :D :D

Hmmm. Having stuck one in the toolbox under the seat of my 1100 I'd come to the conclusion that there wasn't anywhere on the 1150ADV I could put a Centech fuse box. Bit of a shame as they do make the wiring of accessories easy peasy. That said, there's a space on top of the airbox where I was going to put my Autocom that might be a possible if you put your Autocom elsewhere... Handy for a feed from the battery too.

Not the most waterproof piece of electrical/electronic equipment - you might want to get a nice watertight box from Maplin to keep it in and some gromits to let the wires in and out of the box as a first approximation to "waterproof". Puts the size up a bit though.

Don't buy a Corbin seat - you'll lose the tool space. See the Corbin site for details.

Well my Blue Sea Systems fuse panel is larger than the Centec and this is where I placed mine on my R1150 GS Adventure...

My bike went to BM for repair of a faulty bit 'o' kit. :tears Rather quickly I was dragged into the workshop to explain why I'd connected a relay to part of the canbus diagnostic plug (blue/green wire). :nenau

I explained that it was a solution "Motorradconcepts" offered albiet with a responsibility waiver. (see above link) He informed me it was part of the very delicate sensor system going to or from the BMSK (i think that's what it was called) and a real NO NO!!! :nono So the nice chaps undid my potential wire fry and took the feed from the aux power socket. Nice job as well. I think I will drop a line to "Motorrad concepts and get their toughts.

And this was the response we gave:

Hi

Many thanks for your comments.

This power source was recommended to us by our local BMW Motorrad dealership and confirmed by another.

The problem with taking the feed from the aux power socket is that although switched via the ignition it can take up to 2-3 minutes to turn off as this socket is linked to the CanBus system of the bike.

I will discuss this matter with the technicians again but with over 100 of these relay kits sold in the UK to date you are the first person to raise this concern.

I'd be interested to know which BMW Motorrad dealership/technician gave you this advice as it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that he may be mistaken.

I thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Best regards

Thats the same place recommended by the R1200GS info site.
Ive mounted mine where Duth suggests and and used the Mottorad concepts relay kit, tapped into that blue green wire and my BM dealer hasnt "dragged" me anywhere

If I was you I'd "drag" my ass to another dealer.

Boo Hoo. :tears So harsh!!

Before any draggin' is to be done I'll wait and see what the outcome of the Dutch/Delaer convo is. In the end it's all about getting the best results for the bike.

What size wire should i use from the battery to the fuse thingy?? it said 12gauge??

what is that??

anyone know where i can get some 1 amp blade fuses from please..
