Centre bolt in Rocker Cover .??

Have had this trouble since i got outfit , the centre nut in middle of rocker cover will not tighten up , thread is ok so the damage is inside , as i know nothing about air heads , what can be done to fix this problem and will it cost a lot , Bike is great otherwise ,she just out of hiberation , Any and all help would be great as i know there are plenty of airheads on this forum . Don't worry too much about it, one of my old 80/7's did 30K miles without a center bolt/stud/nut [never found time to do it ] no leaks or any problems cos the 2 x 10 mm nuts keep it oil tight
Eventually quick helicoil or similar and remember never to overtighten the feckers.

If the thread is okay, just stick another nut on it. It doesn't have to be same as the fancy one.

If the thread is knackered, it's just a stud that's easily replaced.

If it's the easy side Genoe 15 minutes here with my helicoil kit and if it's the other side we'd have to slacken the chair

All in all as Proff says if it ain't leaking it's not doing any harm

If the thread in the actual head is turning then obviously it is fecked....sooo, go the local hardware shop and get some 6mm threaded bar. Turn this through the casing and when it pops out on the slight recess on the other side..simply locktight a nut onto it Nice new thread for your centre nut to tighten up to then

From having a look after Sundays brillant run , looks like the main centre stud might be damaged ,it was pissing oil ,Looking at pic its part number 7 and from the looks of it someone has tried to remove it ,the middle threads are damaged , Took all bits off ,cleaned both faces ,there might have been gasket sealant used at one time . Bolted her up and left her till tonite and went for quick run to get dogs ,all looks ok now ,
