hello
my 2014 r1200rt LC has been on it's centre stand maybe fifty times only and the feet were the centre stand makes contact with the ground are all rusted up.
i know it is normal if you use the centre stand but has anybody found a solution to this?
repaint and put a piece of rubber underneath the stand when using it, so as not to scratch the feet again?
it looks unsightly when bike is parked and on its side stand.

thank you.

..............Repaint the centre stand and don't use it ?? :blast.......

Carry a can of black Hammerite round with you and repaint after every use of the centre stand. If you dare to go over 30mph the wind should dry the wet paint by the time you reach your therapist's.

Take the centre stand off or carry a carpet tile around with you. You could even get one colour matched to your bike.
BTW, don't worry OCD is a curable condition.:thumb

Not the main stand, but when I got my RT the side stand foot was bent, it wasn't until I put a Wunderlich stand enlarger on, I realised it should be flat, the top part of it is rusting where the pain has flaked when bent up.

Only solution is to replace it with a high grade stainless steel one - it might still scratch but won't rust. I did this and the results are brilliant :)

Actually that last sentence is a lie :D

take it off, get it shot blasted and powder coated, grease it up thoroughly...

...then wrap carefully in bubble wrap and place on a shelf in the garage.

I imported one of these from China to get rid of this problem...works a treat!

Only cost $400 and $300 to import + Vat but does get rid of that annoying stand rust problem and certainly less slippery than the large metal tray full of oil that I used to have to drive over then hoik the bike up on.

I have considered one of these as well but slightly too cheap and not enough effort involved

My big problem with the RT is that every time I ride my bike the fuel level in the tank seems to get lower
