think i will take your advice and take off the centre stand, i struggle to get the bike on it anyway and i only use it to clean the back wheel and lube the chain.
As far a buying the lowered version, Balderstons in peterborough strongly recommended that i got the lowered version because of my 5' height and my 26" inside leg measurement, even though i sat on a standard one and thought i might get away with it.
i have the pre load set quite hard, and use top setting when i carry a pillion.
Good excuse to go solo in the future i think
