Ceramic headers - benefits?

I'm trying to decide whether to get Titanium headers for the 1290, or just get the standard ones ceramic coated.

I seem to remember Geoff at Hilltop mentioning that ceramic coated headers will get good results on the dyno, and looking at the minimal difference in gains with Titanium headers on the GS, am now thinking that this could be a better option.

What do you lot reckon? What are the benefits of ceramic coating?

He also said the 1290 responds better than the GS ?

Tis all bo11ox, keep the stock headers and cat.

This is true. I just want to get the bike set up right before I go. If I still go. I may go down a different route with this bike though.
 
Zircotech in Abingdon will charge you about £150 to ceramic coat them. Makes them run a wee bit cooler but not as cool as the insulated jobbie on the 1290T. Look nice as well ...

the idea of ceramic is to have the inside header coated inside black to keep the heat so giving you a little more power..titainium robs the engine of power slighly because of the micro thin walls and the cooling effect but this is offset buy the weight saving and also the super cool looks:D had these done at camcoat triple black coated inside cermachrome on the outside

The things people keep in there kitchen!!!!! Look awesome, but I wonder for how long????

Ceramic coating will reduce the outer temperature by a considerable amount, which will produce more power. However it will not solve flat spots in the rev range, for that HillTop are your best answer.

FFS, spend the money on decent suspension and rider training if you want to go quicker.

Ceramic coating/exhaust wrap all does what the bods above have said; with an appropriately tuned and set up motor it might help you get...............oooooooooh.........another 1 1/2 bhp at the top of the rev range :rolleyes:

Stop bringing your tarts farkles ways into the Orange section, keep it for the Chav bike.......... :D

Yep, I'd agree with that .................Suspension every time, worth 10 bhp

Get the bike sprung and revalved for your weight and you'll go quicker
 
flat spots and only making low 120's on a dyno plus excessive heat from a 1290 engine ..i wouldn't be happy:hide

exactly...give K-tech a ring near Swadlincoate, they will revalve your shocks an fit new custom cartridges at a very reasonable price and you will have the best handling bike bar non, look at Micky and Will Dunlop and rest of the top boys at this years TT, all on K-Tech Maxton I was there last week ordering a set..very impressive local company
 
As stated ceramic coating will give minimal power gains - great if your racing and getting 1/10th of a second a lap is important, for a road bike it is just an expense you will not notice (unless it makes a difference to the heat issue - but the SA rear header fixes that for a mere £70)

A flat spot will be down to fuelling / ignition that is set to get past emissions regs, a good remap should sort that out.
