Ceramic headers - benefits?

FFS, spend the money on decent suspension and rider training if you want to go quicker.

Ceramic coating/exhaust wrap all does what the bods above have said; with an appropriately tuned and set up motor it might help you get...............oooooooooh.........another 1 1/2 bhp at the top of the rev range

Stop bringing your tarts farkles ways into the Orange section, keep it for the Chav bike.......... :D

The bike has decent suspension already, it's not an 1190.:pullface:D

Is the original post serious?

Fucking hell!

Cheer up Grandad! Why wouldn't it be? The bike is going to Hilltop soon, so I want to get the best from it. If I manage to upset Giles and Arsey with better figures, it'll be worth every penny!:D

As stated ceramic coating will give minimal power gains - great if your racing and getting 1/10th of a second a lap is important, for a road bike it is just an expense you will not notice (unless it makes a difference to the heat issue - but the SA rear header fixes that for a mere £70)

A flat spot will be down to fuelling / ignition that is set to get past emissions regs, a good remap should sort that out.

Thanks. That answers my question.:thumb

Talking to the mech at Trevor Pope (KTM) who builds race engines - and has a dyno....he put me in my place when I asked about a remap and Dyno by saying..." is your riding so good that you need more??"...

I had to agree that it isn't..... And I'm talking the shitty 1050....which is way faster then my ability....

Lot of bullshit being spouted by a few on here.... Riding gods and all that......

The only person I'd listen to is Giles, as he has realistically the best training and experience...:thumb2

Even my R, with the vastly superior manual suspension, was improved by a custom revalve to the rear shock so just think how much better yours could be .........

One of the blokes on the American forum reckons that the dealer can set the bike up for the riders weight, on the computer.

I asked about this at my dealer and they said there are no suspension settings that can be altered with the dealer tool.

On the SA-S?

No, on the 1190, maybe they have added some adjustment for the new models - they ought to of had this on all bikes, the most critical aspect of bike setup is the rider sag - and yet it was adjustable on the bargain basement 1050, but not the ES 1190!

Ah, ok. This guy was convinced that the dealer can customise it. I'll ask my dealer next time I'm there.:thumb

Bargain basement - I prefer cost effective....

If you can adjust electronically then it's likely you'll be able to set up pre-load settings, and compression/rebound characteristics , which is all great provided your dealer actually has a clue on how to set up suspension!
The one thing they can't change though is Spring rate. Not a problem if you happen to be the right weight for the spring fitted (usually around 85Kgs) but not so good if you are a lot lighter or heavier than that.

Electronic suspension is definitely getting better, but I'm not sure it's as good as a well set up quality manual system just yet.

Good point nipper :D
