Long story.
Old friend decides that to celebrate his 60th in May we're undertaking a cheap bike challenge around the Lake District with daft points scoring system etc.
I stormed into an early lead when I managed to source my nephew's ex-bike, a Derbi Senda 125 for the bargain price of £125 pounds, well under the rule of <£500.
It did come with some issues; a knackered engine in situ (gearbox & clutch toasted) and a "spare" engine with a completely shot cam shaft & top end (the top end had run dry when the oil pump stripped the drive cog and ceased to operate). I suspect a lack of oil changes and generally zero maintenance contributed to this.
I split both engines and built one "good" one from the two sets of parts, essentially putting gear box & clutch #1 in engine #2.
Along with new oil pump & carb from China.
On the way to the MOT this rebuilt engine siezed solid, and when stripped it appears that the cam shaft was running dry and has siezed in the plain bearing & head/cam cover - a failure very much as engine #1 had.
Replacement cams are no longer available, so I'm on the hunt for a cheap replacement top end or a CG125 engine or a Chinese generic CG125 copy engine.
As the bike only cost me £150, I'm reluctant to splash out a fortune, but is there anything out there in UKGSer world that could assist with this quest?
Cheers!
