Yes you are correct. For _only_ £80 (or you can make it two payments over two months) they will advertise your vehicle until it is sold! CarData have buyers queuing up ...... blah, blah, blah.
And if the vehicle doesn't sell they'll often give you free accommodation for a weekend away! Never heard of anyone getting their free weekend though. Neither have I ever heard of anyone successfully selling their bike/car through them. (And yes they did sucker me in once. The story regarding that particular bike's sale is for another time round a camp fire.)
In Scotland, MCN does not appear to be the way to advertise anything other than a CBR600F. BikeTrader (or even AdTrader) appears to be more effective.
As for the engine cases, I'd start the warranty claim and get them replaced right at the end of the warranty, or about a month before you sell it. You don't want them to be too shiny for the sale!
I'm a believer that the right bike/deal will find you. Eventually. The waiting is a killer though.
