Noticed that fuel guage on 2006 GS 1200 goes down in single bars as with 1200GSA AT LAST no more full tank showing then next minute half then quarter tank then reserve.

Not so on my 2006 1200GS

Mine's an 06 1200GS (January 06 build) and the gas gauge behaves just like the older ones. It's full one minute, then jumps to half, then to reserve and the Yellow Diamond Warning comes up...no single bar countdown. :(

dont celebrate just yet as my 1200 ADV fuel gauge does nothing for 100 miles then drops like a stone then does not much for next 150 miles

would like to retro fit a gsa with computer set of clocks to my 05 1200, will have to see if it can be done / do you think the computer will be an option on the standard gs @ some point

Is the more progressive fuel gauge part of the GSA's computer (linked with range)? Notice the display is less bold-looking also, but not sure if that's just the computered ones, or all new GSA's, or even all new GS's.

ktmmark, my dealer advised that bthe computer "can't" be retro-fitted, as I was looking at an available GSA which didn't have the spec. I wanted. Although I'm sure you could if you replaced enough components, but I don't think it would come cheap. They also quoted £400(!) to add the ADV's fog-lights which are £200 as a factory-fit option.

£10 from halfords!!!!
Wiring kit costs more (£12.00) plumb directly into battery via switch or mine come on with main beam by connecting relay to main beam cable on back of bulb!

Me too on my 06 bike. Full to 95 miles then drops to half full, despite the multi segments. My previous 05 bike did however hold off from warning me that I am running out of fuel until I had 50 miles (ish) left. The 06 bike puts up the warning between 120-130 miles when I know I have at least 100 to go :nenau Spend the last 50 riding around with 0 miles to go. Gear position indicator broke last week as well. :(

Do you by chance have a picture & spec of this halfords unit :beerjug:

My '06 1200GS has the new display - delivered mid March.

Doesn't seem to be any more accurate though. Stays full for ages then drops real quick.
