Change to Twin Cam

Hi guys, can anyone tell me when the twin cam head was launched on the GS12? was it early/mid/late 2010? i'm currently comparing prices on t'interweb for an adventure, new or used, on finance or pcp and tossing the options around with my wife. i was going for a new triple black but the adventure looks so much meaner! Im willing to travel for a good deal/service so any help/advice would be gratefully received.

Hi Omias and welcome,I believe the dohc first hit the showrooms around march 2010.
If you are looking for a visual check,the dohc plug covers which are made of black plastic and can be seen on the rocker covers are vertical,on the old models they are horizontal.
Before you become seduced by the lure of the GSA I implore you give them both a good long test ride.
Whichever you decide on,enjoy,both great bikes it's just that one's greater than the other.

I was looking for an older GS but after trying several decided I wanted one with the twin cam engine. Tried a GSA and fell for it, it felt so solid.

Was aiming for a secondhand 2010 GSA but ended up buying a new one as the BMW and dealer discounts in August were so competitive.

Have done 1300miles in just over 2 weeks and I am really pleased with it.
