The rear brake on my 09 1200 GS has been a bit poor lately ,last week while in the Alps had a total rear brake failure  So later that day as I was passing a BMW dealer in Switzerland I would pop in and ask them to look at it. Which they did and said it was fine , probably failed cos the fluid had good to hot, OK so carried on with my trip. Decided when I got home to have a look myself , So this morning I took the pads out ,they were worn but still had a good few miles left in them. But then discovered that one of the caliper pistons was seized out and the pin was severely corroded. replaced pads and pin, cleaned the caliper , freed up the piston , put it all back together now and working fine. :D What distresses me is the fact that the dealer had said it was all fine, also that about 18 months ago I had a new final drive under warranty and was told that the pads had been replaced aswell..............I think not :augie

What makes you think they weren't replaced? You said they were worn but had life left in them. Have I missed something here:nenau
