Afternoon bikers :beerjug:

Someone kindly suggested a cheap horn upgrade by getting the BMW car one from a 5 series and plug and play.

Well it works and is LOUD when stationary, however, when riding it doesn't work reliably (which obs isn't really any good) - I tend to only need it when I'm moving :thumb2

Any ideas or will I have to either revert to OEM and shout or spend £85 on a Denali

Thanks all

Hi ,
How do you know its no good when riding ? The noise will move around as you move forward.
I bet its louder than you think !

Did mine a while ago - no issues.

Hi, at 20 mph it makes no noise sadly, it squeaked a bit then stopped altogether ,

When I stop back at home it's fine but it's really not beeping when moving, or rather it's intermittent - sometimes beep sometimes no beep:confused:

£85, they are only €67 (£57) here in France, you are being ripped off. I have one fitted and people know that I am there when I want them to.

Sounds (or not...) like it might just be a bad contact. :nenau

I've got the same horn on my 19 1250RT and it works fine. I did read somewhere that you need the original, so I bought mine from a BMW car dealership. Some had bought off eBay and had similar issues as you.

Try to turn the horn to the other side, might be that the air of the moving bike traps the sound of the horn coming out. Just a dum thought ;-)

Bought my original one of a scrappy on eBay for £12 and it works perfectly. I cleaned the contacts before fitting. Good luck…

£85 on a denali? did you find a gold plated unit

£40 odd for the split & £20 for the compact, £20 for the loom if you dont have have a can smart

I fitted the Denali mini sound bomb to mine together with the Denali loom kit to make it true plug and play, under £50 the lot and whilst a couple of dB less than the full Denali monte is easier to fit and loud enough IMO
