Excuse the awful eplanation but I am really bad at tying and putting things down on text especially when its techno sith.... here goes

I have sent this to Garmin but im sure I will get back the usual ... look in the manual ,, its not in there (I think)

Tiphaine , I will send you two routes which have been done on basecamp .

I will send one route that takes you to one destination from a common start point and another with a common start point to another destination in a similar area.

The problem is , say for example the chosen route taken , the weather takes a turn , so I wish to switch to another pre planned route to another destination in a different direction.

What happens is that I stop the current route , switch to the new route , but I get options that are not clear ie I need a map to see where the points are , bit pointless I feel if I have a GPS device !

When using my other garmin 660 which is a few years older the new route would give me the option “do I wish to start at the start of the route” I choose no , the route is still active so I can zoom out and work a way to pick up the route where I choose. Once one the route the 660 continues to follow this route , this I cannot do on the Nav 5 .

Regards

Dave

God I hate techno stuff , it took me a day to set up my iPhone 6 for gods sake ,, im usless ....Helllllllllllllllp

It's like talking to myself ................... Oh well .....next time I'll post about oil , tyre pressures and the fact that BMW are shit lol

Firstly - are you sure GPS is for you? You seem to get stressed by just posing a question. This is a genuine question - I can't tell you the number of times I've been on some great road, in great weather with my mate who has been utterly irate with his GPS. I kept telling him to turn it off - it didn't matter, but he persisted and spoilt many days of riding for himself.

To answer your question (I only had a 660 for a while and didn't take to it) I would save each route with a separate name, then stop one route and start the other if you decided to change routes. Whether the 660 would cope with taking you to the nearest point on your route is a different matter. I'd try it with a couple of short routes near home and find out...

Mike

Nav 5 doesn't do that like the 660 did
you hav to pick one of your way points as next destination i think and then the nav 5 will take you there the way it chooses

Thanks , not stressed , just having a laugh , thanks , I will try that method again ....... I did 10s of thousands of miles with the old 550and the 660 , it's just this new one presses me off .

Thanks , that's about the position I find , must start to number the points , it just seems a backward step for a new unit .
