Changing from GSA to RT?

I’ve flip flopped between, but if I could only have one it would be a GSA until I get to the point that the bike was too tall.

Having said that I ride a Multistrada most of the time and a 2010 RT in the winter.

I luckily have both, albeit they are Twin cam models.

Love them both, just done 2500 miles on the RT two up to Norway and back in all weathers. Ran perfectly and gave us weather protection the GS couldn’t have.

Off to France solo next month and it’ll be the GS for its nimble handling and good airflow.

Horses for courses but they’re both great bikes.

I sold my 2020 1250RT which I never really gelled with and bought the 2 TC bikes for the same money.
I agree with the all roundness of the RT... Any road, any weather, and also I didn't gell with the LC which was and is a great bike but full of bling I'll never need... Last winter a return to the gaucho/ shite bag on the GS made a huge difference to the weather beating and I'd forgot how useful they are...👍

So, my question is to those that have made the switch, anyone regretted it? Any other cons I've not yet potentially realised? Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.
Went from RT(1150,1200) to GSA(1200) to GS WC (1200,1250) never went off road, the GS does 75% what the RT does. Difference in weight between the GSA & RT is minimal hence I preferred the GS...Until I had a test ride on the 1250RS , which for me is spot on after I customized it a bit. So now is a hybrid RT/GS/ with the look of the RS. I am not tall so never had problems with cramped knees. However the new RT looks good. Summer in Spain I used the Sport screen on the RT and had loads of air flow in the head/chest area but 0 airflow around the legs. Not a problem on the GS/GSA/RS.
The only reason I would go back to the 1300RT is because now there is an auto gearbox.

I’ve had a 2009 1200GSA since new. Great bike for touring and two up. Loads of luggage space. Handy for Tesco trips…

I bought a 2013 1200RT a couple of years ago, 2nd hand from a chap on here.

We have toured on both and love both.

The gearing and handling on the RT is more forgiving at lower speeds, and it’s got a lot lower cog, so great through the twisties.

I tend to default to the RT these days, but won’t get rid of the GSA.

SWMBO is happy on either, as long as there’s a top box. She likes the heated seat on the RT…

I haven’t felt the need to buy newer bikes, these two both do what they say in the tin.

I have an 1150RT, 1150GS and an 1150R
I90% of the time I use the RT for convenience and comfort ( I have a Corbin seat I fit for long distance as the standard seat runs out of comfort at around 80 miles,
My GS is set up for long distance and long days on end rides, an ADV tank, Vern’s world beater panniers, Corbin seat (snakeskin finish 😎😄) , 500/800 miles a day .. but haven’t done those type of rides for a few years.
The bike can still do it, but I’m no longer sure I’d cope so well these days. I can’t sell it, as we’ve done so much together and have a bond :D

I've had a few of both and all the types of RT... They cover 95% of the job 100% of the year... I presently have an oilhead GS and an ST11 and that's the same quandary... I try to use them equally and occasionally the GTR1000 I have in the garage... RTs are a great compromise whether it's a long tour or a trip to the shop👍
