Hi folks, not sure if this is the right place to ask the question but will give it a go. Got a Montauk 1200 cruiser in the for sale section, if it doesn't go thinking about exporting it to spain, does anyone know if converting the headlight for riding on t'other side of the road is an easy fix and if so how do you do it?. Stick on converters will be no good as it will be a permanent export. Thanks for any help,
Cheers,
Ron

Ron, if its a permanent export then find a good Abogado that has experience in matriculating motorcycles. What part of Spain would it be going to ?

I doubt anyone here will have the expertise on such a modern machine (being a hexhead not an airhead an all), all we worry about is bean cans, throttle cable sychronisation and incontinence.

Hi Ron,

I've been riding my lc for quite a while in Spain, I have noticed that the high beam doesn't seem to affect incoming traffic. I will have to register the bike here soon so please keep us posted about what happen with the ITV (Spanish MOT).

I hope that I can get it with the current one, if not....It will be bloody expensive due tu led lights.

Hi folks,
Thanks for the replies so far, bike would be going to menorca, believe the process is fairly straightforward as long as the bike is 'standard' .a certificate of conformity is required from the manufacturer is required and owners valuation (less is mor if you know what I mean as taxes will have to be paid). Only tricky bit is the headlight conversion.

The more recent bikes don't have much of a sideways deflection. Pretty much straight up and down. If it'll pass the Spanish MOT then I wouldn't bother.
I've ridden my Hexhead abroad a lot and never been flashed at.

Hi 'Angus',
Haven't got to the mot/itv stage yet, just trying to identify any potential problems before I get to that stage if I decide to export it,ta for the reply

Headlight

Look on realoem for headlight part nbr . I had to do nothing on my Belgian hp2 to import it here, there is only 1 headlight for Europe with straight up/down dipping pattern

Its realy not a hard or tricky conversion, it really isnt. Undo bezel, unscrew headlight unit, take out bulb, put bulb in new left hand headlight, replace headlight unit, screw bezel back on.

Simples.
