Had my new GS Adventure for 6 weeks (4000 miles) now...

When I engage 6th Gear, I have to be *very* positive, otherwise it will jump back out again.

Known problem, or just be being used to namby-pamby Jap gearboxes ??

My 1150 with 10,000 miles on is the same. If I just snick it into 6th, it drops out within a few hundred yards, I have heard other owners say the same. I think its a BMW thing, some do some don't. For me a minor issue with an otherwise great bike

As a generalisation, gear change will get less stiff with age and yes you do have to be "posative" sometimes with the change.

Yup, I have found that it can pop out of 6th, but only occasionally.

I find that mine occasionally pops out of 2nd into neutral if you are not positive enough on the shift.

Can be embarrassing getting away from the lights...

It has only happenned once or twice in over 6,000 miles...

I've found that it almost always pops out of 6th if you do a clutchless change-up. No-clutch changes are fine to 5th, but when changing up to 6th, which isn't very often, I always use the clutch.

Steve.

I think DG had the same problem with his stocker Sean, have a chat with him, not sure what happened in the end.

Just don't tell Rita ;) :D

Thank God, I thought it was just me! Yep, you either give it a very firm thrust (ooerr) or use the clutch to get into 6th. That aside a lovely gearbox I think.

I got a new gear box BMW did it out of warranty, mine use to jump in and out of 5 and E, then one day it stayed in 5th, never to return.

There is something wrong as there was also a couple of guys behind me in the Dealers that soon sparked up when they herd of my freebe, SPC did all the work fine but I took the bike in clean and it came back dirty ( muddy ).

I complained they said washer was U.S
