Every now and then we get an email from customers thanking us for our help in realising their dream of having a motorcycle license. I am of the opinion that we do help to change people's lives in a very positive manner. After all, nobody really needs a motorcycle license but they do need a car license, it is a modern necessity to get from A to B, get to work, do the school run, go shopping and so forth. A car is a utility that enables people to get on with their lives with minimum fuss in the same way they have washing machines and dish washers. Just a practical need. Attaining a motorcycle license opens up a whole new world to many of our students and is far more emotional.

Receiving an email like this just makes it all worthwhile and the satisfaction I get from the job is something I will sorely miss when I hang up my training boots in a few week's time. I'd like to share this with you.

"To everyone at RMT,

I wanted to take a moment to say a very personal thank you for the part you've played in Helen's motorcycling journey. In just a few days, Helen will be taking her advanced riding test, and looking back at how far she's come in just two years, I find it quite extraordinary.

It's hard to believe that only two years ago, her journey didn't even begin on a motorcycle. It began with a bicycle, simply getting used to balancing on two wheels again. From those very modest beginnings, through her motorcycle training and eventually gaining her licence, her confidence and ability have grown beyond anything we could have imagined.

And that's where RMT deserve a great deal of credit.

The patience, encouragement, professionalism and understanding Helen received during her training gave her the foundations on which everything else has been built.

Earlier this year, we completed an incredible 25-day motorcycle tour of Europe, with Helen riding her own Honda Forza 350. We travelled through Belgium, Germany and France, enjoying the beautiful Ardennes, the Moselle and Rhine valleys, the Black Forest, Lake Constance, Alsace and the magnificent Vosges mountains.

Thousands of miles of unfamiliar roads, different traffic conditions, mountain scenery, winding roads and new experiences. And there was Helen, riding her own motorcycle, taking it all in her stride. There were moments during that journey when I looked across at her riding alongside me and thought about how far she'd come from those first tentative attempts on a bicycle, just two years earlier.

I was, and still am, immensely proud of her.

Now, with her advanced riding test just days away, she's preparing to take yet another step forward. Whatever the result on the day, what she's already achieved in such a short space of time is something nobody can take away from her.

I genuinely believe that good motorcycle instructors do far more than teach people how to pass a test. They give people the skills, confidence and belief to go out and discover a whole new world.

That's exactly what RMT did for Helen.

So, everyone who helped her along the way, thank you. You've played a very important part in something that has brought us both enormous enjoyment, wonderful memories and adventures that we hope will continue for many years to come.

You may have taught Helen how to ride, but you've also helped open up a whole new chapter in her life.

And for that, you have my sincere gratitude.

John"

It’s always great when folk take the trouble to say thanks, it’s so simple but means so much after you’ve put so much in yourself Snoots.
Well done mate, nice when the world sees what great ambassadorship can bring to promote a positive picture of motorcycling 🏆

Helens choice for their trip also shows you don’t need the latest £20k offerings to get the greatest rewards and experiences from travelling on a bike. 💪
