changing sidestand?

i'm changing a sidestand to a shorter one( not enough lean angle due to hyperpro shorter spings) for my wifes 2017 1200gs( not ADV)
anyways is it straight forward to remove and refit eg the sensor connector or anything else i might have overlooked?

I would think everything is identical, except the length obviously :thumb2:D
 
just wondering about the sensor does it just unplug and when its unplugged would it throw a fault till its reconnected?

Not sure, but there may well be starting problems if its not connected. Someone will be along shortly to tell me im wrong, but sidestand switch is part of the starting system and may well cause problems.
 
sorry, going slightly off-topic, but how are the hyperpro springs?

can I ask - are these fitted to std ESA shocks? - but the hyperpro are shorter to bring about a chassis lowering?

How does the spring rate feel? - I know that Hyperpro are not linear in their rating, but how does the bike 'feel'? - I always think the GS / GSA is undersprung ad feels a bit bouncy in use on tarmac. I'd wondered A) if a change of spring on the ESA is possible and b) if the bike would feel a bit harder sprung after the change?

the hyperpros on my wifes gs were fitted to lower the bike when seated( unweighted the bike sits at almost the same height)
i say almost, hence the lower side stand needed. its a non ESA model by the way
i've rode the bike back to back with my non esa non hyperpro GS and they feel and handle the same
i think they might do lowered springs for the esa model its all on there website, or you can speak to them in dutchland HQ on the phone
very helpfull english speaking staff

p.s i think the suspension on the non esa models are a better quality ride anyway (having had both in the past)
