What's involved in changing the colour of a GS? AFAIK there are three pieces that are coloured - tank, beak/fairing & rear under-seat thing? Assuming removal/re-colouring/re-fitting is the best route, is removal & refitting of these parts do-able for a Haynes 3-spanner DIY guy?

I ask because there seem to be more yellow GSs out there than any other colour, and I personally really don't like the colour, either mandarin or whatever the paler shade is called (not commenting on or judging anyone else's taste). But if it wasn't a huge deal to re-colour a bike then I certainly wouldn't pass over a good GS in yellow.

Of course for some lads the colour doesn't matter and they "just get on with it and ride the fucking thing", and maybe they're right, but I can't do it.

There was an 1100 for sale in Ireland a few months back, and the tank, beak & rear thing were white. The rest of the bike was black - the whole engine, forks & telever, shaft/paralever, rear rack, wheels, exhaust downpipes. It looked damn good to me. Is painting all that stuff DIY-able? Or is it expensive to have done professionally? This looked (to me, from the pics in the ad) as good as if it came from the factory like that.

Getting ahead of myself of course, but the curiosity is there, and if changing the colour is viable then I can cast my net that bit further, so I gotta ask.

Thanks for any replies.
