I crossed yesterday evening.
Had a booking for 6:50. Arrived at checkin at 4:3-pm (change of plans on the way back) and they put me on the 6pm train free of charge.
Works like new.
Cannot say the same for the bloody Frejus tunnel, as I waited 5 hours in a queue to get in, on Saturday. They still wanted the odd 50 euros payment to get through

Sounds mended.
I bet it won't be long before they introduce a "drop off" charge...
I think you will get charged and arrested if you try to walk the tunnel anyway
