You might want to send your own version of something similar.

Even if you haven't ridden it yet - or you may never will (err, is that actually English!)

Subject: Chapel Gate Byway Objection

Hi

Whilst I am a long way from your parish (living in Reading), my hobby is putting my fully road legal trail motorbike on a trailor and enjoying our ancient byways in a responsible manner.

Hence I wish to object to the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Order, made on 10 August 2011 prohibiting mechanically propelled vehicles on the Chapel Gate Byway, being established on a permanent basis.

Thanks, Mike

I have only ridden this lane once, a few years ago and it’s a cracker in a beautiful part of the world. I would like to know its there to ride again.

Sent my objection in today!
Never ridden Chapel Gate but would be nice to have the chance in the future

Neither have I really

but never let the truth get in the way of a good story!

Done - mine nearly made me cry...........

"Just because I wear a crash helmet doesn't make me a bad person!"

Chapel Gate Objection

Here's mine - hopefully not too soapboxy?

"Hi Mike

As a member of the TRF living in the Peak District I enjoy riding my fully road legal motorcycle in a responsible manner and am also a keen supporter of the Peak District National Park and National Parks in general.

Now that repair work has been carried out on Chapel Gate to stabilize its erosion I would like to see the Experimental TRO lifted so that a significant minority may enjoy this splendid route again.

There are few enough routes in the Peak District National Park available for mechanically propelled vehicles and I believe the rights of access should not be further compromised.

If locals and visitors to the National Park alike have to tolerate Hope Cement works and the massive hole in the ground behind it because of a "national need" for raw materials, surely we can tolerate a very few tracks on our landscape because of a "national need" for recreational space?

There are thousands of miles of footpaths and Bridleways available for those who want to walk, cycle or ride a horse in peace but very few miles of byway open to motorbikes and 4X4's (I'm sure you know the ratio). We should not lose more!

National Parks came into being not only because they were beautiful places but because ordinary people wanted to be able to enjoy them fully by having greater access. Before National Parks, they were being denied that access by those richer and more powerful than themselves. Surely the PDNPA must not find itself in a position where it is party to a reduction in access rights to one of its stakeholders because of the lobbying power of another.

Hence I wish to object to the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Order, made on 10 August 2011 prohibiting mechanically propelled vehicles on the Chapel Gate Byway, being established on a permanent basis.

Yours sincerely

Chris."
