According to my dealer fitted to all new 2017 GS/GSA to pass emissions . They were fitted as standard in the US, apparently will not affect performance...

This is on the 1200GS oil head

I hope that the new 2017 GS/GSA hasn't got a charcoal filter as big as the one in the video.

Charcoal can filter

In answer to my own question (above) the 2017 GS does not have or indeed even require a charcoal canister filter fitted! :beerjug:

Really ? So my dealer spent 5 min talking shit over a non existent system, trying to convince me that the performance of bike will not be affected by this device and that a full exhaust system will bring up a fault on the dash on the 2017 model bike, which comes out in 2016...all very confusing:rolleyes:

Unless you are getting a 2016 model build before August:nenau

Actually the device is called a evaporative emission canister.:augie

Zoltan,

Well my dealer convinced me to get an order in quick to purchase one of the last of the GS's before the arrival of the new 2017 E4 with the fitted carbon can was released.

In fact he used this as his sales ploy...'get in quick before the e4 comes out with a big carbon filter bolted to it' As it transpired the order seemed to get slightly delayed and low and behold my bike has arrived and it is the new 2017 E4 model!

However, I'm not bothered in fact I'm quite pleased 'cos now having scrutinized my new bike, it is the 2017 spec with the technical upgrade, and it DOES NOT have a carbon filter can fitted!

According to my dealer now, apparently the GS-LC already meets E4 spec in it's current form, so I'm very happy, and I'll be happier on Thursday morning at 10.00am when I get my leg over it.

The new speedo looks a bit easier to read, due to a small change in the display, it has an orange reflector on the side of the front forks, and that appears to be the only visible difference between the 2017 bike and the current 2016 bike, although internally I believe it has a modified drive shaft and an improved gear selector system.

Roll-on Thursday...:bounce1:bounce1

Now that is bizarre , I will have a test ride Sat on the new 2017 demo bike and that bike has the filter:nenau Let us know how the new gearbox , gear change is like:thumb

The plot thickens! Where is the filter actually mounted on that bike?

Re the box, I'll let you know, however this will be my 5th LC boxer powered bike and I couldn't fault the gearboxes on the previous four, they have all had lovely faultless boxes.

Yes they can clunk going into 1st, but that's just clutch drag not the box, and it doesn't bother me.

It's a UK spec bike, however the orange reflector is fastened with what looks like double sided spongy tape...easily removable if required!
