About a year ago, when I still had the 1200 Bandit, I bought this cigar socket which clipped to the battery posts to enable one to power accessories.
Then a week or two ago I was in a local motor factor shop and bought a BWM type plug and socket for about £7, although it was the plug I was mainly interested in.
Today I cut the crocodile clips from the cigar socket, lenghtened the cable to about 5 feet, and fitted the BWM plug...
The cable is long enough to reach from the standard fitment socket up to a tankbag, or to be able to use an accessory a small distance away from the bike. This will be useful for charging a mobile phone whilst riding, or for using a small compressor to inflate tyres, air mattresses etc.
It took about fifteen minutes to make this handy adaptor, at a fairly reasonable cost.
I am now left with a spare female BWM type socket which I am thinking of fitting to the bike in an easier to access location than the standard option. Have any of you fitted an extra socket? If so, where? Will it fit in the dash?
My bike at one time must have had an alarm fitted, but all that remains is a small light under the odometer reset wheel. Will a socket fit there?
The socket...
The dash, showing the alarm light...
Have any of you got pictures of where you fitted an extra socket?
Thanks
Aidan
