You've been a lucky boy getting a new battery under warranty.

If you have a look at your handbook it will state that you need to charge the battery if it is to be left for more than four weeks - either on the bike (using a suitable charger) or off the bike.

Wow - you're right Wilbjr - cant believe that. Though pretty sure they'd be on a sticky wicket if they claimed a battery should 'completely die' with an extra 2 weeks of no charging. It was obviously a faulty battery and wasn't just deep discharged according to the Tech Guy.

I recently shipped my 05 from NZ to Aus in container - 6 weeks at least in transit - disconnected the battery. Started first time on connecting the battery again. No problems with software etc.

Well you had no problem because you disconnected the battery.
