I know people probably hate posts like this, but if you don't ask and all that...
This year I am taking part in several events to raise money for 2 charities that are particularly close to my heart, these are:
1. Cancer Research UK - all of us are inevitably affected in someway by cancer, be it personally or through a family member. Cancer Research UK are an entirely charity funded organisation who’s extensive research (they support the work of over 4000 scientists, doctors and nurses) is dedicated to bearing cancer. Their groundbreaking work has saved millions of lives. I am running the Edinburgh Marathon and taking part in the London Olympic Distance Triathlon on behalf of Cancer Research UK.
2. Action Medical Research for Children have contributed to soem of the most significant medical breakthroughs in recent history beginning with the polio vaccine which has eradicated new cases of the disease in the UK. Today they continue to find and fund the very best medical research to help stop the suffering of babies and children caused by disease and disability. I am taking part in the London to Paris Cycle ride on behalf of Action Medical Research for Children.
How can you help?
1. You can Buy a T-Shirt from my store - all proceeds will be split between the 2 charities.
2. You can sponsor me directly either for Cancer Research UK or Action Medical Research for Children. You can even donate via text For Cancer Research UK text “RSDE76 £1” (without the quotes!) to 70070 to donate £1.
3. You can buy a ticket for my forthcoming raffle with lots of great running and cycling related prizes.
4. Sponsor me to wear something silly in one of my pre-Edinburgh races (within reason, to be negotiated!)
Please be assured that all money received will go directly to the charities. Any expenses incurred in any of these endeavours will come from my own pocket.
My story over the last year is well documented, so I hope you understand why *me* completing both of the above events will be a massive achievement! I'd really love to hit my targets with both charities, it'd mean a lot to me and make the hundreds and hundreds of marathon training miles and hundred of bike miles a lot sweeter.
I know we're in tough times at the moment, but if you can please donate!
