Charity Ride in aid of Air Ambulance

Mike

Will try really hard to join in. In the 90's five of us once did a round Britain trip visiting all of the 10 air ambulances that were operating then - more now of course. I was on my Triumph Super III and we visited :

Cosford, Strensham, Exeter, Newquay, HEMS(London), Rochester, Lincoln, Blyth(Newcastle), Glasgow, Inverness. Sadly the team at Rochester were killed the week after we made our visit - they crashed into electricity cables. We managed to raise over £2000 though.

Hi

Love to take part but I'm away that week. I work for the Ambulance Trust and I'm involved with the Air Ambulance - let me know if you need any support from either and I can put their media departments in touch with you

Barry

Barry, that is a fantastic offer:thumb Can you make it happen please :clap

No problem. Emailed both departmental heads already - I'll follow up monday and get back to you.

Might be something else we can do - I'll speak to the ambulance paramedic bike unit and also the air ops unit.

Just need to find a good reason to delay my family holiday :thumb2

Mike,
Is it worth letting the local paper know what route is beig taken, may be able to pick up donations on the way, especially if there is some way of advertising the event on the bikes as we go through? Just a thought and you may have already got this covered?

Still on.....

Yep, this is still happening so keep spreading the word, the more the merrier. The Air Ambulance are attending with one of their bike mounted paramedics, the route will be finalised today after checking the weather forecast :augie It looks as if we will be heading west into Shropshire at the moment.

We are making a decision on the route tomorrow - we want to give ourselves a good chance of heading towards the better weather and at the moment it may be going East then South. Will confirm tomorrow night.

Just spent 5 hours outside today training two students on CBT - luvverly! Trench foot and very wet gloves. Great!

I chickened out and drove Landy to work, raining when i got up and couldnt be arsed to get all waterpoofs on when theres a vehicle sat on the drive and free parking 50 yds from the office door :augie

Weather is looking good

Well b*gger me it looks as if the monsoon is going to give us a break and the sun is going to make an appearance on Sunday.:Motomartin

Looking forward to seeing as many of you guys as possible.

Many thanks to Morticia for dropping round the office yesterday and donating £20 to the fund even though she is unable to make the ride.....:bow:thumb

Let's have a great turn out all!

PS. Still waiting for the boss to confirm which route we are taking.

Planning to join in whatever the weather. Have you a route yet ?. I'd like to stick it in the Sat Nav. Cheers

Huge thanks to everyonee....

Thanks to all the Tossers who supported this event. :clap:clap:clap:clap It was a great turn out by all concerned and the weather gods were kind to us :Motomartin

The official figure is not yet in but it looks as if we took £1200 from those participating in the run plus there are some other pledges to come so we reckon we will crack £1500 which is absolutely fantastic.

There were also several donations from people who could not make the ride (take a bow Morticia :bow).

I would also like to thank Barryt of this forum for his help in putting me in touch with the Air Ambo media relations and helping to organise the presence of Mark the Air Ambo bike paramedic.:thumb

The ladies from the kids charity also took over £60 on the tea and coffee stand.

So well done everybody, give yourself a pat on the back as you did a good thing today and I am grateful to you all:beerjug:

It looks as if we will make this an annual event so let's try and beat this next year:D
