Cheap Chinese BMW Navigator V

Sorry to state the obvious, but why are you unwilling to accept the obviously expert comment from 'Garmin'?
On forums we always seem to question the manufacturers advice be it BMW, KTM, Garmin etc. especially if we are unhappy with the reply

I expect then, that you ALWAYS clean your bike with cleaning products bought from your bike manufacturer as they are the only ones that are approved by them.

Exactly. Garmin won't tell you the 'unofficial' remedies.

Not sure if this is possible, but...........

Make a copy of the entire Garmin's hard drive on your PC.

Wipe the Garmin's drive clean.

Get a copy of a European Nav V and download to the Chinese unit.

If it doesn't work you can always put the original copy back on the Chinese unit.

Sounds simple, but it probably isn't.

I only thought of this because I deleted the mapprom file from my Zumo 550 to make room for new mapping that was a larger file.

This hardly squares with several replies you've made on other threads, pointing fellows in the direction of assorted websites and forums where bods offer all sorts of unofficial advice on how to fix problems you've encountered.
