Cheap GS

Looks like a good deal. I think th e price is low as from what I can see there is a fair bit of rust and luggage seems to have a lot of scratches. I'd guess from background in photos that this is in Crosshaven area. Would be a good route in though.
 
I keep looking at this,it is now on its 3rd price drop.Anybody else have an opinion on this as I cant make my mind up!
 
Definitely at this price. I had one (best colour as well). Commuted and toured 2 up . Put 93k on it from new. Sold for £2,800. Great bike very few problems through out it's life. Yes the wheel rims tend to dull. Yes the luggage gets scratched as it's plastic. Front engine cover - sure paint peeled BUT it still gave a me a dependable service in its years with me. If you want pretty then you pay more. Too many prissy riders chasing pretty machines. If you want the GS experience then why not get stuck in at that amazing price? Mind I would advise taking a mate who knows bikes (unless you do of course). Check it out and get a test ride. Looks aren't everything...I should know!
 
Well said notadrop.I plan on buying in a few months otherwise I would go have a look as its only 20mins away from me.

Was down in tyners in Innishshannon during the week.He has an 03 1150 with 55,000 miles in stock.Has the usual corrosion but is very tidy.He wants 3500,thought it seemed a bit high considering it has no panniers but then its a non-abs model which I think is a plus.

Do you reckon thats a reasonable price?

I'm no expert and don't know the going price over there. If it seems a fair price for the goods (and that mileage is low for a Bm) and it is what your looking for then check it out. Servicing, receipts what it looks like in general for the year / mileage. Again if you know yer bikes then it's up to you. If not try and get the opinion of a GS owning friend or someone who knows what to look for generally. Test ride , think it over and make your call is all I can say.
 
Thanks for the advice,all duly noted.Have had plenty of bikes over the years but will be my first bmw.Have been doing plenty of research and have plenty more time before I go buying so should be well prepared.Thanks again.

I agree with Damien, at that money I'd certainly be going to take a look at it, especially as it is pretty close to you. I see that you are thinking of a bike in a couple of months, but if you had the money to hand now the few months could easily be spent getting it the way you want it. There's not that much that goes wrong with 1150's and according to the ad all those bases have been covered already. The 73k miles wouldn't bother me either as my own 1150 is up at 111k miles and is heading for the southern hemisphere very soon.

That's my 2p worth, for what it's worth.
 
The guy only has it a couple of months. Came from sports bikes and always wanted to try a GS.
He just doesn't like it and wants to buy a Vstrom.
 
Thanks for the feedback Aidan.Yes I do have money at the moment which aint helping.I am a bit of a bike hoarder so would prefer to sell a few before getting a new one!

That interesting younger06 as he was also selling an 1100gs on adverts but withdrew the ad.I would have presumed he was into them.

I only know the guy through selling him some bike gear recently. As far as I am aware, it's his first GS (but I don't know for sure)
I do know that he's keen to sell and is open to offers.
 
i've only just now seen that someone has spotted the pictures were taken in crosshaven, jees you wouldnt want to be hiding anything
 
Hey plumber!did you ever used to have your 1150 down in passage and have it parked around the back of the shop by the metal place?

Seems like some of us are coming across as detectives :P
 
Ya its around the back of the gala.Was only asking as I used to work in passage and would see a gs around there sometimes.

Have you had much interest in it?it seems very good value,cant believe it has not been snapped up yet.But then most off the 1150s up for sale on DD have been up awhile so maybe its just a bad time of year.
