Haalfords are doing a 2-for-1 offer on own brand bulbs with the H1 Super Brilliance at £12.99 for the two.

'Xeon gas technology for up to 50% more light and greater safety.'

Only difficulty is not being too rude to the :tosser at the door trying to sell credit cards at 29.6apr.

..and Lidl are doing two for £3.99 for Phillips Blue or +50% in H1, H4 and H7 - but as the offer started on Monday, they've probably sold out.

I thought it was Osram.

Reminder to self - stop at Lidl on the way home tonight.....

Hmmm........... Shows up all the dodgy brickwork too! :thumb

...and the Osram Silverstar +50% bulbs won a comparison test hands down. Halfrauds +50% things weren't as bright as Philips' standard bulbs, IIRC.

do the brighter bulbs run hotter?

No. The Osram Silverstar is same wattage as a standard H1 bulb i.e. 55W

In theory, if more of the energy is converted to light then the heat produced (i.e. energy losses) should be less.

Beware of bulbs that have a 100W rating e.g. Phillips Rally
It is unlikely that the standard headlamp & wiring can cope with the heat & current.
