Cheapest Castrol Power1 10w-50 ?

Found this on the Halford website.

I know it is 10/40 not 10/50 but BMW manual says that 10/40 is okay up to 30 deg C ambient rather than 10/50 which is good for all temperature ranges. But how often does it get to 30 deg C? I used 10/40 part Synth in my Blackbird all year round and it was fine. In fact the Halford own fully Synth exceeds all the various specs that the Castrol does. That might be a worthwhile choice.
 
£15.99 at Halfords :eek and this er 10w - 50 is like gold dust as I had to goto three stores before finding it. Bike had got 7k on it and it just took 500ml to get her to mid level on the glass. Called the dealer and this is "normal". Probably will carry a little bottle since no petrol stations seem to stock the stuff.
 
For 10W/50 I use Hein Gericke.
I think it's actually Motul re-badged. Same colour anyway. Although I used 15W/50 for the GS, Motul 5100 from Opie.

Hi all hows about the 10w 60 oil from castrol fully synthetic and 40 quid for 4 litres - sounds good to go from Halfords:)

If you can wait a couple of days for delivery, Sebastian Pankowski (t/a MOTO-OIL.co.uk) does some very competitive deals on a very wide range of oils, including some which are usually only "dealer stocked".

In example, I bought this week 4 x 1 litres of Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10W-50 (full synthetic, BMW Service Oil) at a cost of £39.20 - including VAT and including delivery.

Or, if you're in the Bournemouth area (:Motomartin) and need it NOW, you can collect in person.

I ordered at about 6pm Wednesday, it was delivered by either Royal Mail or Parcelforce sometime Friday morning. :thumb2

By my mental arithmetic that is £9.80 per litre and you don't have to drive anywhere to buy it (assuming you have petrol and all the twats in your area haven't stockpiled it in their spare room...) so this might possibly be the cheapest absolute net price, to answer the original question.

I had to use Firefox web browser to complete the order (I was at work and our corporately "butchered" version of IE8 would not load the payment page) but aside from that, as easy as parting with £39.20...!

Up to £41.95 for the 4litre now -£10.48/litre.......still pretty good.
 
Am I missing something here my 2012 sevice book recommends castrol gps 10w-40 api sg/jaso not 10-50 which was £30 for 4litres and also a load of other api sf/acea a2 or better oils of varying viscosities(most of which are equivalent to cheaper car oils) so if the dealers are supplying 10/50 racing oil its just plain old profiteering.Castrol play this game with bmw cars equivalent oils for cars are at least half castrol prices.If a dealer tells you your warranty will be invalid by following recommendations in your service book I suggest you refer him to the trading standards. If the same law applies to cars as well as bikes ,if origional equipment equivalent oils and parts are used when seviceing and the work is carried out by a competent person your warranty will not be invalidated.

What does 4T mean on the label? Is it a problem running the bike on oil that doesn't have 4T on the label as long as its the right type of oil?:nenau
 
5L 20w50 Comma Sonic used chip shop fat, comfortably under £16 up north for 5, yes 5 whole liters (that's enough for an oil change and top-ups till the next change). if your paying more for mere engine oil then... :nenau You need your head testing :P
