Ok, so we are going to dirgress slightly. Excuse my ignorance but I have a Quest 1 and am now looking elsewhere not due to any problems...well not since the other half stole it!
The TTR people are talking about the porblems with it. Could someone enlighten me please?? or is it just the dealer support or lack of!!

I reckon you have three choices:
Pick up a 2610 for £200 or a few squids more with mount. The 2610 size goes well with a GS.
Get a Quest 1 or 2 and mount it using a RAM mount
Wait for the Zumo, which will arrive in December (but is a bit more than a 2610)
If you like the Mapsource software - stick to the Garmin.

But to be a little contravertial the only real problem would be the craddle mount?? Surley this is sorted with the Tourtech / Ram mount? I know that we should not have to pay extra for this!

ive not been impressed with all the problems people seem to be having with the TTR,
cutting out when your on the road, and eroding the power contacts
and the fact that tomtom know about this problem and refuse to admit it to their customers,
apart from this the actual unit, no doubt works very very well, getting you to where you want to go and it looks great.
at least with the 2610 you know its pedigree and the testimony of all the RTW tourers who've used it,
also garmin customer service/support seems 2nd to none. and its bloody cheap at the moment
at the end of the day, its your choice and your money.
its very easy to get sucked into the need for the new technology,
like the new sirfIII chipset, bluetooth, built in mp3 players and picture viewers, like i nearly was.
i thought i needed all the above, but when i re-evaluated what i actually needed,
something to get from a-b and to be able to plan routes off the bike on a pc or laptop i went for the 2610

The Quest 1 is a cracking piece of kit - I bought one as my first GPS and it was great. On paper the Quest 2 looks to be even better, but trust me, it isn't. I've had two and they've both had problems with screen redraw rates, riding off the edge of the map, calculation times and losing satellite lock at the sight of the first tree. With my first Quest 2 I had the aerial replaced by Garmin and it didn't help. The replacement was just as bad.
After some negotiation Garmin sent me a 2610 (before the prices came tumbling down
) and I'm really happy with it. Quest 1 =

According to the Garmin guy on their stand at yesterdays NEC show the Zumo would retail at £576.00
which is about the same price that the TTR was when it came out last year ..............gee-ess

I think all references to 2610 prices should be banned! I paid 199 for mine a month ago, now 171 with a free case....what about all those poor folk who paid 999.
Think mine was £265 off ebay a year ago, with 2Gb card - like new--------- can't really complain, as I've had a year's use out of it.

In the words of Charlton Heston "damn you all to hell" Up to now I have resisted the urge to buy a GPS but the current 2610 deals finally did for me, and so the money I had saved to buy the current Mrs Michael a nice crimbo gift is now headed to GPS warehouse I will have to find a way to make it a viable pressie for both of us, you know the sort of thing, "well dear your no good with maps" or "I would feel safer knowing you won't get lost". The other option is just give in and accept the inevitable punishment like a man, oh well the pain goes after a while

Look on Amazon for the bike kit - I think I paid £25 for the cradle and wiring kit. Free postage as well.

I bought the StreetPilot 111 from GPsw a while back.
Should have waited tho, the price now for 2610 is about the same I paid for my 111.
So, question time folks,,, Wait for it,,wait for it,,,
Oh, alright then,,,
How much of the "Bundle" I had can I use on (or with) the 2610.??
The cradle in the kit looks like the same I had but I am not too sure.
Any ideas.

If you go to http://www.ram-mount.com/ you can ask the wizard to list the kits needed for each device then compare part nos.
Even if your kit is not RAM it will let you know which bits are different.
