Whilst cleaning my bike, I noticed a bubble of corrosion next to the rubber joint thingy on the swinging arm. I went back to my dealer and complained they took photographs and sent off to BMW who agreed to replace under warranty. I got the bike back last week it looked fine.

On the weekend was out on my bike in torrential rain so obviously had to clean ''her'' before putting her away. Whilst cleaning I noticed corrosion on the other side of the rubber joint thingy, why I didn't notice it the week before I have no idea.?? Anyway, same process as before and today got a call from dealer saying BMW would replace ''final drive hub'' (I think that's what it's called) under warranty.

So please be aware and check behind the rubber jointy thing, it could be hiding a nasty surprise.

Happened on my 2103 LC, so on my new bike I make sure that I pull back the rubber thingy and get lots of FS365 in the gap on both sides each time I was the bike.

Great bike....shite build....so pleased I got shot of mine before it dissolved. I didn't thing the TC was that brilliant but having gone back to one it is miles ahead

Just returned this evening from getting my paralever (including rubber boot) replaced under PUMA warranty at my local dealer, no quibbles. You're right it's a pain in the arse that they do require such attention but they're sooo good at everything else, it's not hard to forgive/overlook their foibles... :nenau

Clocks are going in to get sorted too (misting up... in colder conditions).

Good dealership experience at HF Inverness again.:thumb2

It's a shame they have to be treated like such a precious flower!

Indeed but when you have had 4x1200s in the last 11 years then one learns where the weak spots are, it's a great bike just a shame that its corrosion resistance to British salt isn't better.

But hey it looks like the new Honda AT is just as bad or worse as the spokes rust within days.

Check behind the rubber thingy!

So how far does the boot peel back, and what keeps it in place.?I don't want to go corrosion-hunting and then actually break the seal somewhere and let water in!!
