I am going to view a 04 Adventure tomorrow...is there anything in particular I should look out for / check on a used (5k miles) GSA? Cheers.

That mileage and age shouldn't have any problems unless it's been down the road on it's side or something.

Make a note of the last seven of the VIN and check with a dealer that any recalls have been done.

Fork brace corrosion ? pos on a 04.

Check condition of the engine bars for damage and cracked weld on the weak point the left hand side at the bit it mounts to the engine.

unfinished paint if it's got the silver primer still on it remember it should be black. :mmmm

Yup.....quite a common problem.

To find out (as the place it's attached to is really hard to see) just tap the ends of the horizontal bars inwards towards the engine and listen to the noise.

They should be replaced under warrenty.

Also pull out the spark plug coils and examine them...if the seams are swelling or starting to corrode, the bike's been in some wet stuff and they're expensive to replace (80 quid each).

Thanks for the advice...

Thanks to everyone for the advice...what recalls should apply to a 04 GSA? Thanks again! :thumb

If you're still looking...

Good luck with your search. If your original buy falls through, please check out my 2002 GSA for sale in the For Sale forum. It's a great bike. I'm Platinum Pig, AKA Frank. Cheers!

Don't forget to check you have enough money in the bank before going for a test ride :)
