Hello boys and girls, are you sitting comfortably, then I will begin, many moons ago a grey haired (but quite good looking) airhead owner wanted a pair of aliminium panniers to fit his old freind the airhead, not to big not to small, after many fruitless searches and large pound signs later he decided (grey hair = wisdom) to design his own, and with his freind (no hair and not very pretty mate) came up with a very simple robust pannier that will fit any airhead frame , the good looking one then approached a friend of his who just happened to be a fabricator of the metal stuff and heypresto the Chekie pigpan was born, now the fabricator man in his wisdom said if you can give me an order that will give me a couple of days work I can surely knock em out a bit cheaper lets say an order of say 10 pairs and instead of being £250 a pair I can do em for £215 (by the way these pigs could fit on most frames with a bit of thought) So if any body is interested send me a pm and lets see what happens

Are the lids hinged? Do they attach to the frame with anything other than the tie down straps? How big are they? How thick is the metal? etc etc etc

Ok the size 18 inch x 8 inch by 17 inch deep, exhaust side same but 7 inch, lids lift off, brackets on these are hand made hooks made from Makralon, there are numerous ways of attatchment, the choice is yours, material 2mm aliminium treadplate, unit construction with front and back end plates seam welded, very very strong and light, the raised tread gives extra strength, ok they aint pretty but they are not for looking at they are for carring a decent amount of gear on yer bike, the blue straps are just there because I had them on me at the time its up to the individual to put on whatever locks or straps you prefer, I recently had an off with these panniers on, cant see any damage and may just have saved me leg from more damage than was incured.
The panniers on this bike have been designed to be removed in just a few seconds.

Check'd panniers

Here are mine pictured on the bike and there is a shot of the makralon fixings over the frames. I also have the rubber banding attached which doesn't fix the panniers to the frame but can hold a multitude of light weight stuff on the sides or tops.

They are light weight, strong and cheap and really suit the bike .

I am very pleased with mine and will probably sell my Hepco and Becker Juniors with frames in order to get another set.
