CHIP INSTALLATION

I've just got a performance chip from Germany and all the instructions are, strangely enough, in German. Does anyone have any instructions on instalation that could help out ? . There's a diagram showing what appears to be chopping the air intakes ends off as well. Is this recommended?

Is it the BB Power chip you bought ?
If so, I can email you the instructions in .gif format (in a sort-of English )

Note that the 'jumper' configurations shown on this link are for the old version of the Eprom. The Instructions I have are for the latest version of the chip.

By the way, they are for an 1100GS

Regarding cutting the air intakes, there are several differing opinions out there on that subject.

Instructions say to cut the right hand one only. This gives a small increase in top-end power, at the expense of some low-end power. Depending on how you want the bike to perform, you can choose todo it or not. Some people suggest cutting both left and right sides for even more top-end power (again sacrificing some low-down stomp). The chip instructions 'forbids' this.

I have the BB chip fitted and have not cut the intake(s). I don't intend to either. I like my low-down grunt

Cheers Ferg. There's no name that I can see on the chip. I bought it from ebay for £40. Regarding the intakes, I don't want to lose bottom end power, so I'll leave things be I think. Thanks for the help.

If you're going to cut one make sure you DO cut both.
I cut mine a couple of weeks after fitting the chip.
I cant honestly say I noticed any loss of torque but I did notice a slight increase in top end HP. It allows you to get full benefit from the extended rev limit.

The main benefit for me was a smoothing of the power and torque curves and the peace of mind from knowing it wasn't running lean. If your not running a Y-piece and a derestricted end can I wouldn't worry about the lean running bit.
