the problem i now have is wwhich rout to take with the fuel mapping????
Do i fit a power chip or a Techlusion box? All advice greatly accepted..........

I have all sort of horror stories of the bike running lean with all the associated problems......

Yep, I've heard them too.........:redlight :nono

But I've done thousands of miles with 'y' piece, can, K&N, larger air induct..........with no problems:thumb ..................:hide ,so far!!

On two different 1150s........

Does it all make a great deal of difference???? Not looking for Blackbird top end just more torque to get you past that twat..... Yoe know you have all been there!!!!!:)

Hi Coolcarbon

Do you think the larger air intake makes that much of a difference, I thought when I put the K&N in it ran really lean in comparison to using the standard air filter ?

Cheers

Everyone has a different opinion on this. I've run my bike on a remus/Y-piece without chip from 6k. There's no difference in fuel consumption from the OE and at the 12K service there was no evidence that the engine was running lean. The techhie reckoned, if anything, the revised set-up would cause richer running. In any case, fitting a chip/box may invalidate your warranty - be warned.

Have given it a bit of thought and have dicided to put all the bits on when they all get here. Then take it for a DYno run to see what she is running like. Will post results.....

Sounds sensible - I got all the same pieces in place and the bike runs just great - plugs a good colour. Do though check your TPS voltage - this can also be adjusted to allow for richer mix.

How do i do that then? Easy job? Or have i got to don my "Maplins" anorak and get the multo meter out again?

K&N

I fitted mine at the begining of the Bikes life/ownership...........

So over the lifetime of my ownership..........I will save some hard earned BEER Tokens............and I will know when it's clean as I will have done the cleaning!;)

Hi Shane,

I can't say that the intake makes a great deal of difference as I did the all the induction/exhaust Mods at the same time.

I feel there is a difference overall.......never had it Dyno-d, be interesting to see theclowncrusty's results before and after though.

One thing though........Fuel consumption has definitely NOT suffered.

I had a Y-piece/ Remus fitted after the first service and the dyno showed it was running 1% lean. At 10,000 I added a K&N which increased the power by 0.5 BHP and made no difference to the fuelling. At the same time I added a Techlusion chip which increased power by another 1.5 BHP and corrected the fuelling glitch.

I don't think the chip was essential but it made a significant improvement to the throttle response. I'm not convinced the K&N was worth the money as a clean standard filter probably would have given the same result.

The guys at Prestige Motorcyles reckon it's one of the smoothest GS's they've ridden and are now recommending this chip to their customers that are experiencing surging problems.

I noticed whilst riding behind you that your bike with all the bits on definitely accelerated better than mine.
Not a scientific test, but noticed the difference.

Are you still saving up for that tank !

chip or techlusion?

hello everybody, could you have made the registration any more complicated? good site though.
box or chip, it depends what you want, the box is easy to fit and cheaper and make the engine smoother, the chip is expensive but will set the engine to whatever retro fitted goodies you've installed by altering the fuel AND ignition timming! you can even set it for 98 RON. and the 1150's will not run leaner with a y peice and can as the lambda probe will set the injection rate to compensate, it will just run as lean as it does with a cat!
