Ayup chaps, thought this might be of interest to some folk, i recently chipped the cylinder cover on my 2010 gs it caught my other bike and being fussy i thought id try to touch the chip up, visiting various shops such as halfords only to be told no chip stick available, i than removed the cover from the bike and visited a paint factors they used there paint detector to try to find the paint match, but being bmw this is one off paint code only used by bm in house and not available, so my next step was to remove the other cover and visit the powder coaters i use, in the end i went with silver(any colour available) powder coat and they painted acrylic over the top to get the exact colour i asked for as well and gave me a little pot of touch up acrylic for any stone chips, the cost was £30 for both pots done(couple tins of paint would have cost more!) ive used this company before many a time my car wheels have been done 4x!!! and ive had lots of bike bits done, they will powder coat bike wheels in any colour and will remove your tyres and refit 2 day turn around £30 a wheel, they offer a drive in car wheel powder service and will powder any item you take to them either mechanical or household.

Fitted to bike i also painted the plug cover VX Star Silver
Job done plastic protector refitted and i think silver suits the bike much better than before and they have a nice deep shine.
