Unless you are experienced at balancing your throttle cables/bodies, I would think twice about doing this.
The choke cable on the 1100GS is only a fast idle set-up. I don't use my choke cable at all when starting a cold bike, I just open the throttle a small bit and hold it there until the bike runs smoothly and then I take off slow and easy. I have noticed that at lower than freezing temperatures, it takes a bit of time but the bother of having a sticking choke cable isn't worth it.
If you do decide to change the cable may I suggest that you replace all three throttle cables as well. It's a bugger to get to and a bugger to set-up correctly, so make the job worthwhile.
There is a down load on the American BMW site under oilhead tech articles that explains it carefully.
You will need the ability to balance the throttle bodies and then after about 1,000 Klm's (600 miles) re-balancing again as the cables do stretch a poofteenth and get the bike running like a rumble machine unless they are balanced once more.

Thanks for that Mike, will have a rethink on whether i"m going to attempt this...........
