Nutty, have you lost weight since you downgraded to a GSA? This probably explains the handling.......wot no, you have been eating pies, the GSA can carry higher loads!

Your wheels are just a few washes from looking like they need anodising......trust me my front wheel has done 20,000 miles and is just as bad as the rear after 5000 miles......explanation!!!

Agreed, I'm much lighter than 99% of GSA riders!:beerjug:

20,000 miles? I never keep bikes that long!:P

What a load of Shite your spouting downgrading to GSA I don't think so  nowt wrong with the handling either :tosser

Buy what suits you - for what I need the GS is more suited than the GSA - price is not the most important factor for me, it is weight, looks, handling and performance both solo and two up when touring - the extra size, weight, bulkiness and wheel design of the GSA is a disadvantage for my use. In general most people don't need the GSA which is why the GS outsells the GSA about 2:1.

Since when's it been about "need"?:D

Standard GS is lighter, better looking and better handling - if you want sleek looks and performance go for the GS - if the rufty tufty, twat suited faux adventurer appeals more then you must get the GSA.

:tumbleweed

ps the std GS is not exactly svelte :D

Have had both LC variants and prefer the GSA.

I love the road presence of the GSA and it's more planted feel. :thumb2 :aidan

If you buy a GS................you'll always want a GSA

It's natural and happened to Nutty, in the end:D

I'm struggling to choose between the two bikes.( R1200GS and R1200GSA)

I don't need the big tank ! The R1200 is ( £1200 cheaper TE spec) than the R1200GSA, has nice vario panniers, and I don't ride (my own bike) off road ... so what would you guys say I should think about when purchasing? Clearly its a "big" purchase and I don't want to get it wrong !

Let's face it both the GA and GSA are homely looking, the new RS is probably the best looking Boxer now. You say you don't need the large tank, don't ride off road (so spoke wheels have no advantage and some disadvantages). In your case I would save some money and get the GS. You may want to reconsider the Varios though, for not much more you could get something like top loading Globescouts which are more practical and no wider. One bad thing about Varios is when they're collapsed the muffler side bag holds almost nothing, and the more convenient up-hill bag on the right is the small bag now. Another is they're plastic and break pretty easy if the bike gets laid down. However w/o bags on, the Vario mounts are all but unnoticeable which is nice. Nice to have choices, good luck.

There may be something in that I guess, I came down from a GSA to the GS as the tank range exceeds my bladder range and it is a bit more nimble, but there is not a lot in it. I did get a better deal on the GS as I got Gear Assist Pro thrown in, a Tank bag and the Vario's so probably saved around £2.2k over the same spec on a GSA.

BTW You could put a BMW badge on a wheelie bin, stick a set of bars and a (low) seat on it, and he be breaking his wallet open :)

ive had both and GS every time unless you take the kitchen sink everytime you go out

At 6 foot 6 the GSA fits me better than the GS . Saying that , my T Max 530 also fits me pretty well :D

Horses for courses I guess , but you can get the GSA lowered ,but not raise the GS :thumby:
